Verizon changing ETF for “advance devices”

by Shawn Brown on November 5th, 2009

Due to a heavy amount of scamming done to Verizon Wireless with the BOGO deals they have chosen to up their early termination fee for “advance devices.” Starting on November 15th the ETF will run you a whopping $350 and you thought the $175 was bad before.

The scams that Verizon is currently trying to dodge are the buy one get one free BalckBerry deals. With the new Android-powered Droid coming out very soon the ETF would be much smaller than the retail cost of the phone thus warranting an early termination for savings. As does the regular ETF the $350 will decrease monthly by $10.

There is still no word as to which handsets qualify as “advanced devices” but we can almost guarantee that they include some if not all of the smartphones currently offered by Verizon.  We will keep you posted as we figure out just which devices are included in this new change of service agreement.
