We already know Verizon is working on their 4G network. In fact, they’ve told us we can probably expect it in the latter part of 2010. They might be playing it safe and setting us up for a sexy surprise as TechCrunch reports Verizon 4G could launch in the first quarter of 2010!

Maybe THAT is the reason Verizon has been missing on so many big handsets. Could they be saving up a Verizon iPhone, Verizon Pre and Verizon Android Phone for the day that they’re all 4G? As the only American Carrier with a 4G network, Verizon would absolutely CLEAN UP if they could launch these elite handsets with LTE (Long Term Evolution) 4G technology.

We first heard 20-30 markets would be 4G capable in 2010. But apparently Verizon Wireless is putting as many resources as they can into bringing those markets forward for an early 2010 launch.

Keep in mind that this information comes form “a source” from TechCrunch so it is still VERY much rumor – but one that we dearly hope pans out. Or maybe this is all for that Verizon/Apple Tablet?
