Samsung Glyde Refresh

You remember the Samsung Glyde, don’t you? Perhaps you even have one of those nice little buggers. The device launched to quite a bit of fanfare but that excitement turned to irritation for many who were faced with a very buggy touchscreen and overall software/hardware repsonse problems. They even pulled the phone off the shelves for a short time while they addressed some pretty challenging firmware concerns. Well if you liked the Glyde but were turned off by the touchscreen woes, it might be time for a second look.
Forums are abuzz about the NEW Samsung Glyde that has just launched which people are calling the Samsung Glyde Refresh. It apparently ditches the capacitive touchscreen in favor of a resistive touchscreen like the Dare and Versa. Major improvements have been made in the overall functionality of the phone including a greater sensitivity level to the touch but no software UI changes were made – the appearance is that of the same old Glyde.
If you’re interested, we recommend giving your local VZW store a call before making any big decisions as it would stink to pop in and get the old version, wouldn’t it?

Armanii,
The old Glyde was a POS, and those are probibly the reviews you are reading. The Refresh with the new touchscreen fixes most of the issues that people had with the old screens. Thus it should work well for you.

I have an original version of the Samsung Glyde SCH-U940. I just called the Verizon store and they said “just bring it in and we’ll give you the new one”. The dude even checked to see if they had some in stock and said “yeah we’ve got a whole bunch so just brting it in and we’ll exchange it”. Excellent!

Yeah so i’m trying to decide between the Glyde and the Rival. I’ve heard so many bad things about the glyde, even after the update. What do you think is this just people just still grumbling cause they haven’t upgraded yet or should i go for it and get the phone.
p.s. I really like the look of it, but then again i liked the look of a lot of things, but they turned out to be crap, like peanut butter smoothies lol

I recommend getting the Samsung Glyde Refresh, or replacing your existing Glyde with the Glyde Refresh. I bought the original Glyde about a year ago and was constantly plagued with touch screen problems. After two software updates and the touchscreen getting worse with every passing day, Verizon replaced my phone with the new Refresh. So far, so good. I have had no problems with the touch screen. The touch screen has always been my only gripe about this phone – everything else about it is great!
