BlackBerry Storm With WiFi, Coming September
| by verizon voyager on April 7th, 2009 |
The BlackBerry Storm launched on Verizon to a TON of interest but most think it has fallen short as RIM’s iPhone competitor. With slow to release firmware updates, overall laginess and no WiFi some would say the Storm has fallen short of expectations. But the BlackBerry Storm 2, rumored to be launching this September, aims to fulfill the device’s full potential.
According to rumors from credible sources, Verizon Wireless will launch the BlackBerry Storm 2 in September 2009 with WiFi capabilities, improvements to the touch screen and a few other tricks up the sleeve. You can be sure that come Fall there will be a lot of people talking about the Storm 2 – the clickable touch screen might be a gimmick to some but others have come to live by it and if RIM can improve the screen further they should keep pace with the other top notch phones on the market.
What surprises could be packed into the BlackBerry Storm 2?

This article is spot on. I am a Verizon customer and really want/need wifi on my phone. I was super excited about the Storm launch but then I discovered it didn’t support wifi. So, they lost a sale. Now I bought an Ipod Touch for portable wifi access, so probably won’t buy the storm 2!! It was a dumb move to stop wifi access, it is my understanding the storm had wifi, but Verizon shut that down to force you to use their network.

I Had the Samsung touch screen when it first came out. As far as I’m concerned windows Mobile 6 sucks and is the problem with any phone running that platform.Slow and quirky. Already we hear reports that the Storms touch screen is not properly functional. The operating system is slow, pages do not fully open etc. If you do not need to have access to an office suite get the voyager with 3g internet, flip text pad, and a very functional touch screen. Is it I-phone? No! There is no other i-phone period. The i-phone web browsing experience, I-pod duality and super apps will make it stand alone for some time. The Voyager on the other hand consistently rated superior because of picture messaging, v-Cast Video on demand, Live TV, Qwerty and functional Touchscreen. Some decent apps are also available. Hope this helped good luck finding the device of your dreams. Richy Rich, Peace, Love, Out!
