Weekend Roundup (3/16/09)
| by verizon voyager on March 16th, 2009 |
I hope you enjoyed your weekend and if you enjoyed it enough, you didn’t catch a smidgin of Verizon Wireless news. So while you were frollicking in the park, we put together a list of some relevant happenings on which you might be interested to hear.
VZW App Assists Visually Impaired
If you’re a blind or visually impaired Verizon Wireless customer than you’re likely happy the company is looking our for your needs – the company launched an application called “Talks” which will convert displayed text into speech for features such as Caller ID numbers, text messages, e-mail, notes and more. Customers will be able to interface with their phone using their voice as well, allowing them to:
- Dial numbers from contacts
- Add/Edit contacts
- Type texts and emails
- Write documents in Mobile Office
- Compose multimedia messages
- Use mobile IE web browsing
- Control speech volume and speed of speech
It will first be made available with the Motorola Q9c when it goes on sale Sunday, March 15th for $249. If you’re already a Q9c owner and want to have it added to your phone… no problemo, just give customer service a call. Big ups to VZW for not only looking out for the masses, but also the niches who need their attention. [Via CNET]
Friends & Family For Business

So you’ve already got your Friends & Family plan, right? Well now business people can take advantage of Family & Friends For Business (creative name, right?)! It allows you to seelct up to 10 numbers employees call most (co-workers, clients, office/managers, etc…) and anyone called with these 10 numbers falls into y0ur unlimited mobile to mobile minutes! That’s a heckuva deal, especially considering you can use this for both mobile phones and landlines. If you’ve got a VZW business accoutn I suggest you read the full Press Release.
Short update, right?
Not all that much happened over the weekend but I suppose that’s a good thing… now we’re ready for a week full of news! Stay tuned.
