Reports are indicating that the Oakland Coliseum – home to the Oakland Raiders and Oakland A’s – could very well be renamed the Verizon Wireless Coliseum as the company is in talks to complete the naming rights deal.

Apparently the stadium is kind of junky (can anyone confirm?) and I’m not sure what company in their right mind would want to be associated with Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders – seems like a losing proposition. Although maybe it means Verizon Wireless will start drafting the fastest phones on the planet without regard to any other specs or performance of their devices. Trying to claim they are America’s Fastest 3G Network perhaps? Hmmm…
