Verizon COO Retiring By End Of 2009

striglHis career started one year before the birth of the Internet and it seems his career will close soon after Verizon Wireless gets its first Android Phone – quite a career marked by 2 pivotal events in the technology world. Verizon President and Chief Operating Officer Dennis “Denny” Strigl, responsible for operations of Verizon Wireless, will retire before the end of 2009 as reported by GigaOM.

Strigl has played an important role in Verizon FIOS roll out and Verizon’s current deployment of their LGE 4G network which should debut in 2010. Hopefully he’ll have his feet up on the beach with some type of umbrella drink, watching his portfolio stuffed with Verizon Stock continually rising while he checks it using Google Finance on his Verizon Android Phone.

Verizon provided no information about a successor.
